Latine Heritage Month Lecture Lunch - Wait in Punishment: Visualizing Migration to the Mexico-U.S. Border with Dr. Nancy Rios-Contreras
Thursday, September 26 at 12:30pm in Lundring Events Center

As we celebrate Latine Heritage Month, join us for Campus Ministry's first lecture lunch of the academic year with keynote speaker Nancy Rios-Contreras, PhD. In her presentation, "Wait in Punishment: Visualizing Migration to the Mexico-U.S. Border," she will share stories and findings from her research and work on the border.

Presidential elections fuel a heightened discussion about Mexico-U.S. border crossings and national security. Using border participatory action research and visual photography in Tijuana, Rios-Contreras shows that the way authorized U.S. border entry is processed punishes migrant populations seeking asylum. She also will discuss violence in Latin America and inclusive approaches to support migrant well-being.

LGBTQIA+ History Month Lecture Lunch with Dr. Peter Carlson
Wednesday, October 23 at 12:30pm in Lundring Events Center

We invite you to a lecture lunch with Peter Carlson, PhD, as part of this year's Campus Ministry theme, Healing and Restoration.

The title for this lecture is "A Queer G-d."

Many people have heard the phrase "queer theology," but are understandably confused about what it means. Is it just about including queer people in religious communities? Is it about sex? Is it about pride parades? Is it dangerous? While it might touch on any of these, queer theology is a branch of theological thinking that is much bigger than any of them, or even the sum of them.
